Social events

Social events

We plan 2 social events: a welcome cocktail and the conference dinner.

Welcome reception

The welcome cocktail will be housed by the “Musée des Arts et Métiers” (www.arts-et-metiers.net). Musée des Arts et Métiers The Musée des arts et métiers is a Mecca of scientific and technical heritage and plays a significant role in the dissemination of scientific and technical culture in France, in collaboration with CNAM centers in the provinces. It houses unique collections which bear witness to 250 years of technical innovation (Blaise Pascal's Arithmetic Machine, the Foucault pendule, etc.).
Each year, around 200,000 people visit the 6000 sq. m of permanent exhibitions. A short visit of the museum will be possible before the cocktail.

Conference dinner

The conference dinner will take place Thursday in the restaurant of the “Musée d'Orsay” (www.musee-orsay.fr) after a guided tour of the museum. The Musée d'Orsay is one of the most famous museums in the world.

Musée d'Orsay
It owes its undeniable success to its exceptional collections, bringing together works of art mostly dating from between 1848 and 1914, but also to its venue, a former railway station. Built in 1900 on the left bank of the Seine, it provides outstandingly bright zenithal lighting – an ideal venue to house the collections. The most famous artists are to be found here: Manet, Degas, Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, as well as Millet, Courbet, Puvis de Chavannes, Carpeaux, Rodin and Maillol.
